1. On Friday 28 May,  Anthropologist Dr Adrian Peace, from the University of Adelaide will present a seminar:  

Kill Skippy? 'Roo meat, red meat and the language of meals

2. Next week is diversity week and Oxfarm need volunteers who can help at the following two fantastic events about community aid initiatives (you can access to ALL OxfamUQ Events in BRISBANE here

Given the vast needs that are in the world today what difference can one person make?  
Come along to hear an exceptional line-up of speakers and visit displays from diverse and inspiring community aid initiatives led by staff and students at the University of Queensland. THE EVENTS:
 
UQ Showcase of Community UQ Showcase of Community Aid Endeavours: Real People in a Real World
 
(1) School of Medicine event<http://www.uq.edu.au/events/event_view.php?event_id=6381>: 6.30–8.30pm on Tuesday 25 May
RBWH Herston, ES Meyers Lecture Theatre Mayne Medical School Building
 
(2) UQ St Lucia event<http://www.uq.edu.au/events/event_view.php?event_id=6382>: 6.00–8.00pm on Thursday 27 May.
SS&H Library Conference Room, Level 1 Building 2.
 
The event format is of 1 hour of presentations on community aid initiatives (each 10 minutes), and 1 hour of interaction time at displays/stalls from each organisation, while light foods and tea/coffee are served.
 
PRE-EVENT VOLUNTEER NEEDS:
 
1. Transport for Tuesday 25 May
Transport to RBWH Herston to set up by 5.30pm
to carry printed materials, drinks and foods from Toowong.
 
2. Catering for Thursday 27 May
Purchase ~$50 in light foods (grapes, crackers, dips, snacks) and drinks (juice, milk, soy milk)
You can be given cash in advance, or pay and be reimbursed.
You can buy the foods and bring to UQ anytime before the event.
 
Please volunteer for one event or both events, in the following roles:
 
3. Set up info stall and catering (tea, coffee, juice, water, light foods)
5.30–6.30 RBWH
5.30–6.30 St Lucia
 
4. Stall helpers – to be friendly and give out flyers
7.30–8.30 at RBWH
7–8pm at St Lucia
 
5. Catering assistants – to set up tea,coffee, and set out the foods, help people to self-serve.
7.30–8.30 at RBWH or
7–8pm at St Lucia
 
6. General assistance packing up
8.20–8.40 at RBWH
7.40–8pm at St Lucia
